Trident branch office in Rotterdam

Trident Archäologie expands to The Netherlands

We’re delighted to announce our expansion into the Netherlands to deliver marine archaeological services to the offshore development sector.

Following a successful launch in Germany in 2020, we have opened a second EU office in Rotterdam to service developers working in the Dutch North Sea, with a particular focus on delivering expert, data-driven advice to the offshore and onshore infrastructure markets.

Ahead of our official launch today, we have undergone a full regulatory audit, gaining the BRL SIKB 4000 4.1 certificate for KNA protocols 4103,4104 and 4107 earlier this month.

Our targeted approach will ensure that archaeological analysis required for renewables and infrastructure projects is undertaken effectively, to ensure proper management of the historic environment and smooth progress for some of the country’s most significant schemes.

This expansion represents further growth for Trident Archäologie in the offshore renewables market. Clients in The Netherlands will benefit from the technical expertise of our large multi-disciplinary team, with over 20 years’ experience in delivering marine projects.

Director of Trident Archäologie and Wessex Archaeology, Paul Baggaley, said: “We’re very pleased to be launching our new offering to the Dutch market today. As a result of the demand for clean energy, we’ve seen exceptional demand for our services in the offshore sector in the EU. The Netherlands was the next logical step, as the regulatory environment around archaeology is very well established and developers and waking up to the wider ESG benefits of heritage. We’re bringing our huge body of experience to this market, and we’re looking forward to helping developments progress through the planning process, ensuring that archaeological works are planned from the start to minimise impact on project timelines and to maximise opportunities.”

Trident Archäologie NL Business Development Manager, Bas Coolen, said: “I’m very excited to bring our professional marine archaeological services to clients and contacts here in The Netherlands. We’ll be continuing to build on our track record of delivery in the North Sea, and Trident Archäologie NL will provide access to the expertise and capacity needed to deliver current and future developments.”
